Omnicare COVID-19 Update

Its been a very busy month at Omnicare, as government regulations change, we act quickly to implement those changes. Some of the changes we have implemented over the past month include:

Implementing video and phone consultations where possible – This is to minimise the need to physically come in to the clinic and therefore lower the chance of infection. Psychologist and Dietician appointments are now all telephone or video based. Doctor appointments should be telephone or video in the first instance, if you are physically required to come in you will be advised.

Limiting the numbers of people in the wait room – Keeping the 1.5 meter rule in place we are limiting the numbers of people in the wait room, patients may be asked to wait in their car and will be called to walk straight in and see the Dr.

Limiting the days the Doctor will see patients face to face  – The vast majority of visits will be by phone and video, again keeping patients and staff safe.

Increased safety equipment – Staff will be wearing protective equipment (gloves, masks, face shields etc.), where possible we encourage you to wear a mask especially if you have any cold or flu symptoms. We have also installed Perspex screens on reception, along with payWave and direct deposits for medicare rebates so you don’t have to touch any keypads.

Change in procedures coming to see the Dr  – Not only do we complete a telephone screening first, for anyone showing cold and flu symptoms you are required to call us when you are outside the clinic, we then give you further instructions on what to do.

Increased cleaning – Our cleaning services have increased, including staff wiping down high touch surfaces twice daily.

Offering online services like prescription repeats – To save people coming in to the clinic you can now request a repeat prescription to be filled without having to come in (the Dr must approve this and will still provide the prescription).

The introduction of COVIU – Coviu is the video system we use to video chat, the system itself is extremely secure and encrypted. There are no programs to download, simply click on a link. You can find out more on our Telehealth services page.

We understand this is trying time for everyone, your health and safety and ours is our top priority, which is why we are implementing these changes, with more to come as this situation develops.

We thank you for your patience and with your cooperation we hope to keep servicing the community long in to the future.
